Make Case Study: Takara Sushi

Takara Sushi is a sushi bar located in St Kilda that was recently demolished to rebuild. The quick service restaurant is located inside a shopping centre, hence a majority of its customers are people looking to grab a quick meal, making sushi the preferred option. The sushi bar also offers other items on its menu, such as gelato and crispy chicken, which would require their own specialised equipment.

In this project for restaurant fit out, the client was looking for complete refurbishment, with the existing setup being fully demolished to create a sushi bar with a fresh, new look.

The sushi bar had

  • Limited space
  • Client wanted to install a range of new equipment to prepare hot food items such as crispy fried chicken
  • Add an ice cream cabinet

The objective here was to make the best use of the limited space on offer, to ensure the client’s needs are met. HWD produced and fitted out custom made kitchen equipments for Takara Sushi. This included

  • Kitchen island work bench
  • Sushi display with refrigeration
  • Hot food bar
  • Refrigeration system

The project was a good example of meeting client objectives despite limitations, by providing custom made kitchen fit out solutions.
