Case study: Holy Basil

Holy Basil is a contemporary Thai restaurant in Croydon, offering customers sustainably source seafood, vegetarian and vegan dishes. This is a busy restaurant that sees a steady flow of customers looking to experience Thai cuisine that balances authenticity with modernity. The restaurant specialises in steamed seafood with fresh Thai herbs.

A complete bar and kitchen fit out was done as part of HWD’s work with Holy Basil. We supplied and installed all cooking equipment and refrigeration in the restaurant. We also fitted out an ice maker, shelving, dishwashers and glasswashers. Additionally, HWD supplied and installed all stainless steel benches that were custom made for the venue, in addition to a cool room.

Our project management tasks included being in frequent touch with the builder through site meetings, to keep track of the progress and any changes we may need to factor in. The client’s requirements were also met without exceeding the budget. The key to completing the work successfully lay in us first recommending certain brands, which would withstand the demands of a busy restaurant, based on which the client then set a budget that was realistic without being extravagant. Furthermore, we were able to avoid any excess expenditure because we were in constant communication with the site builder.
